Like literary minds say it alike…
The international scholar Akin Onigbinde shared a photograph today depicting him wading through mountains of books in a library. Beyond offering “The search continues…” Prof. Onigbinda didn’t elicit a caption contest, but that’s what the picture triggered.
The first option that leapt to my finger on the phone’s keyboard was the title of the translation of D.O. Fagunwa’s Ògbójú Ọdẹ nínú Igbó Irúnmọlẹ̀ into English by Wole Soyinka in 1968 as “Forest of a Thousand Daemons: A Hunter’s Saga.”
But, seeing that the books in view were more than a thousand, I opted for “Fagunwa Sequel: A Forest of a Million Books” — after all, isn’t exaggeration one of the ingredients with which salacious narratives are cooked!
Unknown to me, someone else — Adegbamigbe Ademola — was also catching the literary bug and evoking Fagunwa in settling for “Our Prof. inside the forest of a thousand books…”
Now, if Adegbamigbe Ademola says he’s not my brother, won’t I be right to insist that he submit to a DNA test? 😛
